Hi
if you look at this error it seems there r 2 errors one is of port and second is of dhcp could not assign ip address to client so what you need to do is
1> have you given any ip address pool or you are using DHCP server then look in to configuration of poptop and see where you have to mention ip address pool or dhcp.
2> by default when you enable vpn, ports are open by default if this is the case then your installation is not proper . this is only wild guess i am not sure because you have not given full info. if you need to open ports manuly then edit service file and key in ports number i am not sure about this.
i will try to find this if i will get it i will mail you

hello friends
I am trying to setup a vpn on linux using poptop http://poptop.lineo.com/download_pptp.html
The server installed and started fine, but when i try to connect a client to it, i get an error message saying that there are no free ports or ip's to be given to the client And it justs gives this error and doesnt accept client connections.
any help would be appreciated.
Thanking You, Prem D'Souza. _______________________________________________ Richard Stallman's Public Lecture 5pm 17th July, at TIFR. Linuxers mailing list Linuxers@mm.ilug-bom.org.in http://mm.ilug-bom.org.in/mailman/listinfo/linuxers

thanks for the help that you have provided me, will look into it, but in the meantime any further assistance would be widely apprectaied, as even when i am trying to specify an ip address from the client adapter i get the same error message. i.e state a fixed ip to the cleint instead of being leased by the vpn server.
Regards, Prem.
