Hello Nilesh,
did anyone has solution for connectig modem(smartlink intex) through .= ..pcqlinux... i tried visiting linmodem.org but was not comfortable ...
Basically identifying which modem chipset you have is the toughest job. But now that you know your modem is a Smartlink internal modem, things are pretty easy from here. So here we go. First download the package slmodem-2.9.9.tar.gz from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/ (if you have a 2.6.x kernel, download the file slmodem-2.9.9-alsa.tar.gz). Extract the compressed source and compile and install it (read the README/INSTALL file in the source dir if you don't know how to install).
Then insert the kernel module # modprobe slamr OR # modprobe snd-intel8x0m (If on 2.6.x kernel)
Then start the userspace modem software as ... # slmodemd --country=INDIA /dev/slamr0 & OR # slmodemd --country=INDIA hw:1 & (If on 2.6.x kernel)
If you want to use wvdial to connect, do this # wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
It will detect your modem and you'll be almost ready to rock then just edit the /etc/wvdial.conf file to add your ISP details. Then run wvdial as root to connect.
If you want to use KPPP to connect, then do this # ln -s /dev/slamr0 /dev/modem
Then launch KPPP, and fill in the ISP details and then connect.
Hope this helps ... Have a nice day Nilesh
Regards, Bhaskar
