Fantastic idea...when do we start out on the same...??. Any vendor wanting to bring all the other vendors under their roof for a start.

Here's an interesting post from the Mumbai LUG (Linuxers List), and it seems well thought out to be certainly worth reproducing. Could we think of something similar in Goa? FN

Hi All,
I have thought of the following course/guideline for workshop for Hardware Vendors.
The duration of the workshop will be 1 day (6-8 hrs).
Why Free and Open Source Software (30 Mins).
Outline of the System and Basic differences between GNU/Linux and MS Windows. (30 Mins).
Hardware compatibility and on-line references for checking compatibilities of various hardware. (30 Mins).
Introduction to various common Applications (30 Mins).
Installation of GNU/Linux, partitioning basics, dual boot etc. (2 Hrs.).
Introduction to basic System Administration, CLI, GUI, X, WM, DM etc. (1:30 Hrs.)
Basic troubleshooting principles and guidelines. (Reading log files etc.) (30 Mins).
We have to evolve course material as above. Please suggest any changes, addition deletion etc. Also this is just a broad outline. We need detail course material which we can give to workshop participants as handouts.
Everyone is requested to contribute. TIA With regards, -- --Dinesh Shah :-) Shah Micro System Dinesh@ShahMicro.com Mobile : (+91) 98213-11906 Res. : (+91-22) 56919423

Hi, http://www.linuxtraining.co.uk/download/ has linux training slides for download. The license is based on the Linux Documentation Project license. Maybe we can take some pointers (in applicable areas) from them to build on (re-use), add our own material where required and then allow the training material to evolve over time. This may help in getting started quickly. We will just have to review the license properly to check if we are allowed to re-use their material.
regards Parag
