Thunderbird stores its mail in Win2k usually under C:/Documents and Settings/[User Name]/Application Data/Thunderbird/Profilesxxxxxxxx.default
where xxxxxxxx is a random string of 8 characters

Although this is a linux list, I am giving details for speedy migration to linux.
First make hidden files to viewable.
In 98 go to c:\windows\application data\ There you should see the thunderbird folder.
In XP go to c:\Documents and Settings\the_user's_folder\application data\thunderbird.
If you still have problems, do a search for 'files and folders' with the keyword 'thunderbird'

Rony.
