Check in some of the regular log files and paste any relevant errors that might be reported ... /var/log/messages and /var/log/XFree86.<somenumber>.log for example.

Hello Everybody
Does anybody know any application for bandwidth monitoring. We have installed a Linux Server which is Live on the Internet and we have planning to have this as a live Mail Server and webserver. Since we have group companies we plan to put atleast 2 - 3 domains on this server. Also we plan to have proxy on the same machine.
But my immediate problem is the Bandwidth Controlling, What i want to do is allocate certain amount of bandwidth to each domain and services.
Can anybody help me.
regards
Pramod

<snip> Hmmm, I seem to recall a spam from this domain. Both domains as a matter of fact. Your hosts are in spews, which is why I don't see those now I guess.
List Admin, this poster is associated with a spamming company. He has sent in a commercial mail without a [COMMERCIAL] tag. Could you please issue a warning?

Tools like MRTG/GnuPlot/cricket with SNMP is one option ...Using Tools Like "Ntop" is one more option. Using tcpdump and making your own interface is also one more option for monitoring.
But my immediate problem is the Bandwidth Controlling, What i want to do is allocate certain amount of bandwidth to each domain and services.
There are few links, which leads to docs and softwares for bandwidth management , http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/ADSL-Bandwidth-Management-HOWTO/

I would run only stuff at the same layer as my bandwidth control system on this system (layer 3/4). No applications, just a pure firewall. http://www.lartc.org/ You might find the wondershaper script there useful.
