I am trying to compile a 2.6.0 kernel on a Pentium mmx 166 ,32 MB ram machine with a red hat 6.2 distro preinstalled with kernel 2.2.0.i tried searching for a good howto with all the possible mishaps listed, but couldn't find one, anybody there to help me please. How about replacing RH with DSL & then compiling 2.6.x ? DSL does not use 2.6. This might be lighter on your resources. HTH -- There will be plenty of time to rest in the grave. - Paul Erdos

Afaik linux >2.4 wont compile on RH6.2. gcc is too old, besides modutils, ncurses etc. get newer distro like debian sarge. If u are a newbie and not tech savvy use ubuntu or knoppix.
