'-) there all...
i have a very queer prob here. hope some1 can figure this 1 out. I am in a real fix for the followin reason ....'-(.
I am workin on RH linux thats boots of and run's from the cd. Which i hav mastered.
My partitions r as follows... i run devfs....with the /var,/tmp and /root partitions on a RAMDISK. But...Whatever i do ...whenever i try to connect to the net using wvdial it just drops line. While if i try to connect to the net using KPP...kppp just freezes. I can't even connect to the net from a distro runnin devfs and the above mentioned partitions in RAMDISK. In comparison.... on the same m/c...witht he same devfs patched kernel, a partition with devfs and no RAMDISKS and with a writable HDD partition i can smoothly connect to the net....
PROB.....i don't think the prob is with ny of the modules as i am very sure that all is fine with the module insertion. Instead i think PPPD is tryin to write to some directory on the cdrom installation(when i boot thro the CD ) as a result it hangs... Thus is even tried mounting /etc/ppp as a RAMDISK...but to no avail..
Pals....ny...ny...ny help is highly appreciated...

Is pppd trying to add to your resolver? It may be trying to update resolv.conf with the remote dns servers as specified through dhcpd.

Hmmmm ... I remember Prakash had mentioned something similar some time back - is it the same thing? Could you guys arrange a demo?

One place that pppd does write to is its own copy of resolve.conf when "usepeerdns" is enabled ...
SameerDS.
