Interesting. i've been looking at that phone already, the only problem being that i'm a cdma user. But i may buy the phone for my dad :) Do let me know once you have any further info

Hi Rajeev,
Thanks for the reply. You might have noted that current release is Developer Version Release, it doesn't have stable OS and working applications. But with moderate hardware, its priced currently at 300$. I presume father would need a properly working phone. If you need fully working OpenMoko, you can wait till October and getter retail version at 450$ with better hardware or even you can get Linux based Motorola ROKR E6 currently at INR 14000/- with 1 GB Card.
If you are interested in the developer version and jumping into upgrading OS in October, do let me know. I am happy with hardware that current model as its priced 300$, won't be interested in paying 450$ for little better hardware.
Anyone knows whether Linux on Motorola ROKR E6 is upgradeable? -- Keep Smiling and Mailing,

Currently it is not suitable for users.* The state of the software at the moment is pre-alpha. If you order a Neo1973, DO NOT expect to be able to use it as an everyday phone for several months.

That is correct as per the wiki. That's not what I asked.

It does have a stable OS, and the basic applications that are shipped with the phone work.
It is quite stable, you can send SMS messages, you can make phone calls with the dialer, bluetooth works, the microSD card works, madplay works on the phone for listening to songs.

Hmm.. top posting a top post.
No one is going to kick you out (trust me, I tried it more than once), unless you really turn insane.. your best bet is to unsubscribe.

Do you mean the question of Top Posting? You do realise how much messy the list archives would become if list members did not trim, bottom/inline post the list messages, dont you?

Learn something from what? I'll just say, we have a lot of people on the list contributing really innovative work back to the foss world. Please stop ranting.

From what, a pointless rant?
At least you can see (I hope) from my reply that quoting relevant sections of your question and replying actually makes it easier to read and follow.

Its not a rule that you should not top post, but its an attitude to make it easier for others to follow what is the context you are talking about.

Clarification sought : AFAIK, no top-posting is in the mailing list guidelines/etiquettes (http://db.glug-bom.org/wiki/index.php/Mailing_List_Etiquettes). Is guidelines and etiquettes == rules ?
If so, what is the counter measure if they are not followed ?

Those are etiquettes apparently ripped from the FedoraProject wiki; *These* are the original list guidelines:
http://www.glug-bom.org/Data/Objects/M/MailingListGuidelines/viewObject
Shouldn't we be wikifying the original guidelines instead of lifting it from FedoraProject?

1. Why am I being quoted above for something which I did not say
2. I did not argue anything. I just wanted a clarification whether "no top posting" is a guideline or a rule, or in other words it should be strictly followed or just would be good if it is followed. If you want to call me anything, its your wish.
