helo everyone
i have a reliance web conn (Reliance LSP350R), the problem is i just cant get a stable conn in linux n gppp, i configured the dialer n the modem, but the conn usually resets itself in 60-90 secs, renderin it virtually useless to do any work. if i disconnect n reconnect then it gives error that modem not found or busy n sometimes in the process table the wvdial has an unterruptable status which i cant kill n which stays in the process table even if i disconnect the phone. my system is a UBUNTU 5.10. can anyone sort out the problem.

First copy your /etc/wvdial.conf file to a safe place. Then edit the master to exactly what you read below.
[Modem0] Modem= /dev/ttyACM0 Baud= 115200 SetVolume= 0 DialCommand=ATDT Init=ATZ Init2=AT+CRM=1;$LGPKT=3 Dial Command = ATDT FlowControl= Hardware(CRTSCTS) [Dialer Reliance] Username = 22XXXXXXXX Password = 22XXXXXXXX Phone = #777 Stupid Mode = 1 Inherits = Modem0
Now simply run this command 'sudo wvdial reliance'. See what results you get. This is my working file. The GUI ppp has some problems as it tends to add unnecessary extra init commands.

Rony.

hey rony
my wvdial.conf was configured seeing an earlier post regarding the LSP350R and it did work for a day but since that day i've not been able to browse in linux, i tried the command line route today but alas to no avail, it was the same thing the dialer shows connected but the phone goes to dormant mode and then connects again, effectively not allowin to get any work done, i just cant figure out where the problem might be.

Do u have a firewall running? iptables -L should tell u. disable the firewall if it is running. If no firewall enable debug and kdebug in /etc/ppp/options (add the lines "debug 4" "kdebug 4" in the abv file). On a shell type "tail -f /var/log/syslog" and observer. Then connect with whatever u use to connect. Post your observations. Most likely lcp packets are not received. reliance uses some M$ crap for their ras, ppp and auth servers and disabling lcp packets should solve the problem.

The phone goes into dormant mode whenever there is no activity for some preset seconds. Thats normal. Please give more details like; What os are you using? What is the current wvdial.conf code? What is the exact line that you type for the route command? Which brand of usb cable are you using for the phone?
