us is a iso 3166 country code. en is a iso 695 (IIRC) language code. language codes are usually of the iso 695 form, and sometimes of the iso695_iso3166 - to signify a dialect. eg: en, en_US, en_GB, fr, etc.

Same here. But somehow I managed with German mode ;) Finding the location of the '/' key was the toughest part. Once the installation is through, the default mode remains German. Check the linux-india-help archives for a solution.

u let knx-hdinstall install knoppix in german then change the language to english from the kde's kontrol panel after installation
