Hey linuxers, How do I set up Pine so that the recipient's mail client displays the from header as "From: Chrisil" ? Although I am using a role with "Set From: Chrisil <ajjoseph(a)powersurfer.net>", the from header in the recipient's client appears as "From: ajjoseph(a)powersurfer.net". Even while composing Pine displays the header "From: Chrisil <ajjoseph(a)powersurfer.net>". Also I need to send mail through my ISP's SMTP server using Mutt. For this I need to setup sendmail(Is this called relay??). How can I configure sendmail for this. I have no experience configuring sendmail. Please help. Chrisil. -- I came to MIT to get an education for myself and a diploma for my mother.

Mutt's asking for missing file!

Hi, I'm trying to use mutt on my Slackware 7.1 box, but on starting it up, it says "/var/spool/mail/root --> no such file or directory errno=2" [to that effect] Now, I have a fair idea of what it means, because I deleted the file called 'root' in /var/spool/mail [even though some stuff in it explicitly told me not to mess around with it]. But is there any way that I can get the file replaced/remade? - Shrikant

Environment variables in Linux

Hi friends, I have installed jdk 1.3 and j2sdkee1.2.1 on RedHat linux 6.2. I tried to use forte for java (community edition) for this setup. But it gives me error saying "Please set JAVA_PATH variable to point to jdk home." I don't know how to setup environment variables in linux. Cannot log into RH 6.2 anymore

I have a RH 6.2 setup used as a file server and net sharing purpose. after abt 1 month of the setup, i just could not login as root or other user. i tried getting in as linux single and changing password, but on logging again same story, also, i tried changing the /etc/password and /etc/shadow files, but again the same prob. i m stuck up now, pls help me. _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/

well, i have a squid proxy, using IPchains for sharing net, samba for LAN, DHCP server on a RH 6.2. I wish to monitor the senders address and reciepients address (if possible). Writing client side program which will trap the urls

hi friends. I want to write a program on client end which will trap all the urls accessed by the surfer. Requirement is something like that the program will run in background and logs all urls in text file. Can somebody please suggest me tools .. i preffer C ... just tell me how shall i write it ?..... client browser can be NS, IE.... anything.. Help required ranjeet
