LUG Meet query

Hello All I became LUG member last year while searching linux article for my LAN setup. Even though I have been receiving messages everyday but don't read message deeply due to work load of migrating applications and other data to Linux platform. I am still on the way but at a glance today's article tells some kind of LUG meet. I don't know what is LUG meet? If its a meeting of mailing list members what is the aim and purpose of the meet? rpc broadcast problem

hi i am stuck here in a rpc broadcast(udp) problem...i am unable to send rpc reuest to other linux m/cs on LAN thru my prog using clnt_broadcast(), when checked externally thru rpcinfo , i am getting response from other unix m/cs (solaris , unixware) but no other linux box is responding .... if somebody can throw any light , pls help Catch all the cricket action. Also it will be nice if some1 can reduce size of pictures. My ISP charges me based on MB downloaded. I guess using compression-bit downsizing pictures can be reduced to 20-30k in size. Thanks. Amish. Also, postmaster should be run with -i option. Or the better way is to set that option in 'postgresql.conf' located somewhere in /var/lib/pgsql/ Amish. Problems with JDBC and Postgresql on Linux

Hi, I am kind of new to using PostgreSQL.I wrote a program which establishes a simple connection to the database by passing in three parameters; the database , username and password. I have created a postgres user and a have assigned it a password by using the createuser script. however running the program throws some exception which is as follows A connection error has occured: FATAL 1:No pg_hba.conf entry for host 127.0.0.1, user foo,database petshop and the first line of the stacktrace goes something like this at org.postgresql.jdbc1.AbstractJdbc1Connection:openConnection(.... You can use staroffice 6.0 also which is product of SUN to handle documents, Presentations & spreadsheets & it is very decent product. rgds girish Hi, KOffice, OpenOffice can handle your documents, presentations, spreadsheets etc as efficiently (rather more) than dear M$. Mozilla, Lynx, Konquerer ... etc are great for viewing websites. there are better mail clients so at the end of the day why do want to run M$ app from Linux when you have better alternatives. still if u want to use IE/ Office try using WINE - it does a decent job for lightweight M$ apps but u cant be sure as it is still in development.
