Hi all,
You can use these entries in your ~/.mailcap file for viewing msword and
ms-excel document, which comes as mail attachments.
Dependency: wv, html2text, xlhtml (these are available in debian
archives http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages)
Assumption: conf and example files of wv are in /usr/share/wv
#FOR MS WORD
application/msword; wvWare -x /usr/share/wv/wvHtml.xml '%s' | html2text;
copiousoutput; description=Microsoft Word Document; print=wvWare -x
/usr/share/wv/wvHtml.xml '%s' | …
[View More]html2text | print text/plain:-
#FOR MS EXCEL
application/vnd.ms-excel; xlhtml -c %s | html2text; copiousoutput;
description=Microsoft Excel Document; print=xlhtml -c %s | html2text |
print text/plain:-
You can use any other alternative to html2text like lynx. I am using
these settings and using mutt for reading mails. Its working very fine.
and if you use "set autoview = yes" in ~/.muttrc, mutt will
automatically display the files without asking you to open the file.

High time I asked this.

Hi,
I just installed linux on our college P4.
Red Hat 7.0.
It was the first time I asked it to install 'everything'.
On booting I found three images - linux, linux-smp, linux-up.
I guess smp is self explained.
But when I booted into the image called 'linux', it wouldn't probe
the Hard disk IRQ correctly. It said:
hda: IRQ probe failed
....
Now when I booted into the image called 'linux-up' it did so without
any errors.
My initial guess at an explanation is that the kernels are processor
…
[View More]specific. 'linux' is probably for generic 386s and 'linux-up' worked
because it was for higher processors.
In other words I suspect that the IRQ allotments in the two cases are
different.
Could somebody pl. confirm this or suggest an alternative explanation?
Oh, and BTW I had asked for kernel 2.4 and 2.2 on a cd a few days ago.
I've got them now. Anybody else requiring the same can get in touch
with me.

Hi!
I'm studying 8086 in Microprocessor II
Usually we write simple programs using MS-Dos's debug "command"
Is there a parallel Linux utility ?
Also are there any assemblers like MASM TASM ?
I would also like to clear some doubts:
1. In DOS we use interrupts like int 20,int 21 etc.. which perform certain
tasks.
Are these interrupts apllicable to Linux also?
2.In Assembly since we deal directly with CPU isn't it a
security risk? (I have come across some debug routines which clear CMOS ,
…
[View More]destroy the hard disk partitions... !)
3.Why there r so many books written for Assembly Programming which are
specific to Dos based Assemblers and debug?
Is Unix implementation for Assembly Programming difficult ?
Please enlighten.

Hi ppl,
does anyone from this mailing list also subscribe to
