Internet Connection Settings.

Hi, I recently took a new internet connection from my local cable operator.He has configured Win98 and set up the gateway as a proxy server too. I tried setting up my Slack 8 box with the same settings as in Win98 (ip add,netmask etc), but I keep gettting the same error: SIOADDRT:Network unreachable. How does one configure linux to use a proxy server at boot time? Am I missing something really obvious out here? Could someone please point me in the right dircetion? Regards, Michael. Book available ?

I was suggested to read Mastering Regular Expressions by Jeffery Friedl. I am told it is _the_ book to read for regex. When I enquired w/ my bookwalla, he told me that he was told it would have o be oredered from abroad and would cost ~ Rs. 1300/-. And no, I don't think he is trying to rip me off. It's also not available at the roadside booksellers at Fountain. Does anyone have this book with him ? Caveats with latest Yahoo Messenger

If any of you plan on using the latest yahoo messenger for linux, be warned that it adds itself to your .xinitrc file - even if you tell it not to run on startup. After this, X will not start again. when I send mails I have this line in the header X-Authentication-Warning: localhost.localdomain: nikhil owned process doing -bs what does it mean? -- My life needs a rewind/erase button. -- Calvin
