mysql's grant command

Hello It is possible to force MySQL's grant and revoke command to check the existence of database and table. For example, I have no pet database and if I execute grant select on pet.* to komal@binu, MySQL does not complain at all. Is this acceptable behavior or I am missing something? Thank you Komal

Three problems.

Hi, I've got three problems: 1.Today suddenly I'm not able to boot from Yoper. GRUB gets loaded, I'm able to boot SUSE and M$ but when I select Yoper screen goes blank there's no activity even the keyboard doesnt work? Does anyone have any idea about it. 2. I'm not able to use 'mount' in Yoper. It used to work fine initially but only with CDRW and not with CD-ROM but that was ok as I was able to mount the cd. But now strangely I'm not able to mount CDRW through local user as well as 'root'. Here's a snapshot of what happens. http://www.geocities.com/latesh1/temp/snapshot1.jpg 3. I want to install 'wvdial' on Yoper. But when ever I try to install it, it gives me dependencies error. I use RIM to connect internet and it used to work fine in SUSE. I tried KPPP but it halts on 'Initialising Modem' also query modem results are blank. I connect my RIM through serial cable. Please help me out with this. Latesh.

>Any specific reason for not going for combo drive? None, to be honest. Just a personal preference. I feel investing few bucks more for DVD writer pays back in long run. Simply because DVDs are becoming cheap and may soon replace CDs. Regards, Peeyush

It is to be used with distributions having KDE 3.2 eg. Fedora Core 2, Mandrake 10, Knoppix 3.4 , Debian sid/sarge with KDE 3.2 , or own custom built KDE. Hello, I recommend buying Sony DVD ROM Drive. I have one and its definitely better than samsung. No ideas about LG make. Besides i would suggest you not to invest in combo. DVD writer costs around 6000 bucks and are good enough to burn both CDs (16/24 x) and DVDs (4x). Regards, Peeyush

You've One of the common reasons the disk goes bad is when moisture or dust gets in thru the nicro filters. Freezing the disk will cause the moisture to freeze inside (even if it is in an airtight bag). Starting the drive when cold (i presumed that it would be started cold) should cause the ice crystals to shred the magnetic coating. Otoh the freezer air will be very dry and the drive should suck in dry air to possibly alleviate the moisture problem. Please excuse the line length.
