[ILUG-BOM] RH8.0-Remote instalaltion stops saying " The Second stage of install which you have.."

Hi, I would like to do the Redhat-8.0 installation remotely(since the machine don't have CDROM) I have done several Redhat-7.x remote installations using NFS method. I created "bootnet.img " # dd if=/mnt/cdrom/images/bootnet.img of=/dev/fd0 bs=512 When i boot machine from this floppy the installation stops showing "The Second stage of install which you have selected does not match the boot disk your using..." What went wrong ? -Dilip --------

Please see this and check.. Description A vulnerability involving the do_mremap system function has been reported in the Linux kernel, allowing for local privilege escalation. Due to a bounds checking issue within the function, it is possible for local attackers to disrupt the operation of the kernel. Attack vectors also exist that may permit a local attacker to gain root privileges. This type of vulnerability will permit a remote attacker who has gain limited privileges on a host to fully compromise the system. New Linux Unsafe!

At least two major security vulnerabilitites were discovered in the Linux kernel by a Polixh Security Group called iSEC Security Research. It is said that the problems have been fixed. Thank you, Philip Tellis and S K Rahman. Actually, I took both of your ideas. I booted from the rescue disk, unmounted the home partition, and using the parted program on the HD, shrank that partition. Now I'll be able to load another distro on the comp and resize either whenever I wish to. Just posted this since it might be useful to others too. Utility like "Postmaster" in Linux

Hi All, Do we have any utility/software in Linux which works like Postmaster in Windows. i.e. the software should be able to take a dump of all the incoming mails and then distribute them locally. All the e-mail accounts in the n/w would be configured in this software. This would really increase the download speed (for mails) for the end user, as the mails would be downloaded from the internal server. Any suggestions ! Regards, Nikhil

problems with 24online

after reading through the archives and searching net for all the articles i install the 24online and log in successfully but when ever i visit any internet website i get "connection refused" other local website on lan are working properly. even the server website is working where i can check my account status. it doesnt support mozilla (only IE5.5 and above) but i can see the logo and other things. i checked the iptables and all rules are "accept" __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? location of the bootlog

hi i am a newbie. i installed kernel 2.6 on my RH9 m/c by compiling it from the source code given with LIFY. and instuctions in DIGIT. As far as i know every thing worked fine and installation was over and after restart i also got options for selection of the kernel with which i wanna boot. but if i boot from new kernel it shows uncopression is ok but it gets hunged over there only. can u pls tell me where i can find my bootlog so that i can trace the prob. also i have heard and also seen that linux by default considers my IDE as IDE-33 instead of IDE-133. pls tell me where i can edit to make it IDE-133 by default. i am using GRUB as my Boot Loader. thanx -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Sent 0.000002 seconds ago
