Hi!
Is there any way to implement peer-peer networking in Linux just like in
Windows?
e.g. I have 4 PCs at home, one for each family member. Security is not a
major concern as we trust each other. I want anyone to share anything on
this small network.
On Windows 98, I can simply enable file-sharing on each PC and the
respective users will share their resources either:
Read-only
Full Access
Password-Protected Read-only or Full Access
Being a system admin for few months, I feel this is a simple and
very fast way of implementing a small network.
I have wondered whether the similar kind of network can be set using
Linux Desktops.
Any ideas ? ( Should I be using Samba ? )
Thanks,
Nikhil Joshi
P.S.
One may argue that what's the use of a network if it is not secure,
vulnerable to worms, viruses, etc.? But then I feel if there were no
worms, viruses, security threats, crashes, etc. there would not have been
any System Admins ;) But to be fair enough IMHO Windows makes a
System/Network Admin's life easier.
