Query on shared libraries

Hi all, I know that you can export functions in a DLL in Windows. This does not seem to be the case in shared libraries in linux. Or is there an equivalent in linux as well. thanx for the time. Peer-Peer Networking in Linux

Hi! Is there any way to implement peer-peer networking in Linux just like in Windows? e.g. I have 4 PCs at home,one for each family member. Security is not a major concern as we trust each other. I want anyone to share anything on this small network. On Windows 98, I can simply enable file-sharing on each PC and the respective users will share their resources either: Read-only Full Access Password-Protected Read-only or Full Access Being a system admin for few months, I feel this is a simple and very fast way of implementing a small network. I have wondered whether the similar kind of network can be set using Linux Desktops. Any ideas ? ( Should I be using Samba ? ) Thanks, Nikhil Joshi P.S. One may argue that what's the use of a network if it is not secure, vulnerable to worms, viruses, etc.? But then I feel if there were no worms, viruses, security threats, crashes, etc. there would not have been any System Admins ;) But to be fair enough IMHO Windows makes a System/Network Admin's life easier. -- "The inside of my head was exploding with fireworks. Hi, But using dlopen, the problem of accessilbiilty still persists. The program using the library, will have access to all functions in the library. I would like to have selective exporting of the library functions to the application. Something that will be the equivalent of dllexport and dllimport in Windows. libtool, from what i read, does not address this issue. thanx for the time. Interisting Problem

I have a off line modem. The idea is that voice mails and faxes go and sit in the modem when the computer is off and modem is on. Modem is a MultiTech modem To see my fax I use windows software called Phone Tools from BVPD software. I do not want to use windows anymore. I tried mounting it through wine to it did not work.... Anyone any idea of what I should use to access faxes when I switch my comp on. How do I access my faxes.
