VoIP data transfer rates.

what does 1 min of VoIP usage translate into in terms of data transfer? I am trying to work out the total cost of a VoIP service. Got the call rates but one component is the bandwidth usage. Since it works well with 256kbps and above, and both VSNL and MTNL do not have unlimited plans for 256 kb/s and above therefore the question. Ignorance is Strength. Picked up the Dlink dsl modem from MTNL after infinite number of calls to all an sundry at gandhinagar and vikhroli (w) exchanges. According to an engineer Mr. Nullamuttu they have a problem with supplies and configuration of modem. Connected to an old box powered it up, changed a couple of passwords and it was up and running. Ran the broadband test program which failed to complete. downloaded some stuff speed is around 200kbps. I must move the phone line away from the UPS to add a few kbps. So far so good. rgds jtd

Just put the usb drive and then type tail /var/log/messages which will have the message that a new USB drive has been detected and its name is /dev/xyz you can then give command #mount -t vfat /dev/xyz /folder/whereUwant_ur_USB $ cd /folder $ cp * /home/user1/ will copy all the things from USB to the users home directory Mahesh Deshpande Tel 09322034838

Alan Cox, sometime maintainer of the Linux Kernel and well-known open source advocate, picked up a lifetime achievement award at the LinuxWorld awards in London on Wednesday night. Picking up the award in front of a rapturous crowd, Cox stressed the strength of open source development. "Open source works because we all walk the path together," Cox said.
