Hey people,
My friend wants to buy a Linux friendly motherboard. The dealer is
giving him the following options:
1. MSI RS480M2 for AMD64 2800+
2. Intel 845GVSR for P4 2.4Gig
3. Intel 915GAV(i think, not sure) for a P4 2.66Gig
His requirements:
1. Basic development PC, nothing much
2. Must be able to run Madrake(Mandriva) 10.1 Official
3. Alternatively he should be able to run SuSE 9.1 PE which is quite old
and hence I question the availability of drivers for recent hardware.
4. He is a newbie so everything must work out of the box. Don't expect
him to compile drivers and stuff...forget a kernel recompile.
Please give your opinions and suggest a better, more compatible
motherboards. I personally own an Intel 865GBF motherboard which works
correctly with all distros. No tweaking required.
Thanks.
