Just ran into a prog lang that I didn't know.. Ruby - "the object oriented scripting language". Has anyone got to grips with this
Ruby has been around for about a decade (maybe more). The reason it hasn't caught on too much is because of the lack of english documentation. This is all changing and there are many ruby experts in India. Check with Warren and Premshree (both on this list I think), and join the ruby-india mailing list on yahoogroups.
language. I just bought a book for Perl.. Is Ruby better than Perl or are they in two completely different worlds..
Mostly different worlds, although there is overlap. If you're new to both languages, then start with ruby, but learn both (there's no such thing as knowing too many programming languages :P ). Also consider python.
