I've never used a PPPoE connection but logically it follows that if you setup the DNS manually then it shouldnt get changed. In the NIC settings, dont click "automatically obtain DNS infromation from the provider". This is fedora core 2. I am not sure about Ubuntu 6.06 LTS.
