Well I have a pretty odd built in laptop camera manufactured by a company named Suhoyin. The laptop is Acer 5052. Even that gets recognised. The key to getting a usb camera recognised is to install latest uvcvideo package installed. I think Creative should work like a charm then.

The package that works fine with my cam is 'luvcview'. It is available in the aptitude repos.
