i am stuck here in a rpc broadcast(udp) problem...i am unable to send rpc reuest to other linux m/cs on LAN thru my prog using clnt_broadcast(), when checked externally thru rpcinfo , i am getting response from other unix m/cs (solaris , unixware) but no other linux box is responding ....
if somebody can throw any light , pls help

Make sure that firewall settings are not active. Also check if your service is registered with portmap and portmap is running.

Have you configured IPchains/Iptables and/or other firewalls to allow rpc connections. Also ensure portmapper is running.

i chked up my firewall settings, it was enabled(High) , i tried to remove it using firewall settings in setup , but seems like its not getting reflected and yeah portmapper is running,

try hacking rc.firewall script in your /etc/init.d/rc**/ and restart the service using #service iptables restart
