I have recently upgraded my linux system from 7.1 to 7.3 However my modem is not working. I have an internal modem of Motorola sm56. Tried to install the rpm driver sm56_5.1_i386. While connecting it gives the message " Cannot open /dev/modem " Plz help to locate the problem.

--> Has the modules for the modem been inserted into the kernel....??? --> Has the symlink frm /dev/modem to the actual /dev/sm*** charachter device been made....??? --> Make sure that u hav the RPM with the modules for the right kernel. This is the most common reason thingz don't work.
