Hi
Anyone knows of any Branded (HP/IBM/Dell etc.) Server that supports Debian GNU/Linux (Sarge)
I need to order a server for a customer with the following specs or higher.
CPU: P-IV RAM: 512 MB HDD: 160 GB
I need the following to work. (a) 1024x768 Resolutin Display for X Windows (b) Network card for accessing the Network (c) Disk Controllers / Drives for accessing and partitioning the hard disk.
Thanks

Rishi,

No branded servers would mention support for Debian explicitly. But if the servers ship with RHEL4, then you have a bright chance that it would work with Debian.
Dell PowerEdges are known to work on Debian (worked for me), but then there is a standard disclaimer here :) "It may or maynot work for you."

Why you want to load up your server with X windows ??

It's easier for the user (customer) to use a mouse and browse through the data rather than type commands like 'ls and cd' :-)
Also, with 512 MB RAM, X windows is a non-issue, the server won't have a problem.

ehm...it's not that the server wouldn't be able to handle X but would it be used? In my experience more people prefer configuring and using their Linux servers via the web interface. Ofcourse depends on what kind of stuff you run on the server.
