Linux .bash_profile

Hi All, New to shell programming, Just want to learn more and more aout it. I am trying to learn more and more daily but stumble upon certain things for which I really dont have any answer. Learning about .bash_profiles now. I would like to know how to apply environment variables edited or typed into the .bash_profile script without logging out and relogging in. Suppose I implement certain changes to the .bash_profile of a user( thru which I have currently logged in) and want to implement the changes without relogging in. How do we do it ? esp if we login thru X and edit it under x-term. Thanks in advance for any help. Richard

Fedora Installatioin Problems

i just got a FEDORA CORE 3 installation CD pack of 4 i started installing and i completed the HDD partitioning. and labeling but after that it just hangs. i mean the GUI just starts being funny,the screen merges into one another when i press next. one more thing, i tried around 4 types of mice, ps/2, 2 serial port, USB. all of them get detected during the initial screen as it tells me what kind of mouse is connected. but after that i cannot operate the installation. i mean the mouse doesnt work at all. can anyone help out? can anyone tell me what do i do?

Kernel Upgrade

Hi Guys, Has anyone tried to update the Kernel. I want to try but dont know if the kernels available in Kernel.org will work on my RH9 system. I want to download and install a new kernel in my system and don't know how to go about it. Any one who know how to do it is welcome. Thanx, Richard

Never do this if u luv ur nux-box

I cleaned my links ( by using $cleanlinks cmd ) inside INIT directories ...ie rcS,rc1,rc2 ( /etc/rc*) Now i have lost all the these bootup files ....the good part is ive not lost all of these files , but yes most (importants ) of them and the worst part it ..with the rest of the files i can hadly play around Can someone help me know if i can make them all over again without installating nux. Tally and Linux

The Tally dealer insists that 6.3 version of Tally will work on Linux as server AND client and once purchased, i can upgrade for free to 7.2 My question is, if it were already working on linux as server and client, why would Tally partner with Redhat and why would they make a big deal about it. Can anyone let me know if it really works without getting any special linux only version, before I actually invest in it? thanks abhishek __________________________________ Yahoo!
