FC3 Login Problem: Root logs in fine. 1 user account has trouble

This problem happened since this morning. Have 2 user accounts (in addition to 1 root) on an FC3 system. Root and 1 user account logs in fine. Another user account displays strange logging behavior. On typing username and password, it does not say authentication failed, but attempts a login and the screen changes with the hour glass appearing for a second or so. Then instead of showing the loading icons, it returns to the authentication page. Have changed password for that account just to be sure but it still persists. And only for this particular account. OpenOffice 1.9.104 (moving towards 2.0 ): early review and a query

Just moved to OO 1.9.104 (2.0 Beta) and must say its a great improvement over 1.4. They finally got the print preview in default and with an intuitive (read: windows type) icon. Works fine on the win boxes. Facing a problem on FC3. even though I ran the GUI integration rpm, and it added the same to the menu, the programs don't seem to come up. I am working on it, but if anyone has faced a similar situation and knows the fix, please pass it on. thanks. abhi Ps: the installation history. May 2004: Installed the current version of OpenOffice and asked staff to transition from the existing MSOffice 97/2000/xp. Nov 2004: Nothing happened. MSOffice used as usual. Mar 2005: upgraded OO to 1.4 but still no transition to it from msoffice. May 2005: Uninstalled all versions of MSOffice, and changed the file extension to .sxw and .sxc via a script. There was whining for exactly 2 days about how difficult the new thing is and how it doesnt do so n so functions (primary complaint being, no print preview button). The new version 1.9.104 shoots down that excuse too and the look n feel is very very pleasant. moral: one only learns swimming in deep water. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Multiple distros

Hi I have 2 computers. A brand new PC P4 2.4ghz with 256mb RAM 40g HDD CD/DVD combo drive Old IBM branded PC with Celeron 500.(Non Cd boot) CD rom drive 64mb RAM. Unfortunately the new Pc will boot Win Xp as the primary OS as other family members use it. 20Gb has been partitioned for this as C and D I have already tried FC3/Slack and Ubuntu on the remaining space. Now I would like to re install thes distros the following way 1.FC3 2.Debian Sarge 3.Slackware 4.Ubuntu Hoary Each will be allocated 4gb space Will also alocate 512mb as swap space The remaining space will remain empty or may be used in future for LFS or Gentoo. Is the above scheme possible ? by creating extended partitions Will 4 gb suffice for each distro. I intend to install the full distros and then remove unwanted packages. Thanks and Regards Ninad

They have lost 70% of the webserver market, 10% of the browser market since firefox hit them, 20% of the desktop market in the last two yrs. Inspite of their illegal practices, money, and fud. But that is not enough. evertime u use or cause others to use M$ products u are rewarding illegal and obnoxious behaviour either in cash or by providing the next set of victims for exploitation. Having a closed driver blocks filing of niches and is a maintanence nightmare. I have a old 486 that cant use a new drive because of the bios.
