Connecting Sify Broadband Red Hat Linux 9

Hello Friends, Im new to Linux..To be frank im a beginneer..without much knowledge on linux.But yes i do have a personal passion and love for linux I want to configure my Red hat linux 9 to sify broadband...Im having a ethernet card..I want to know how to configure it to connect to Sify Broadband and also i need to know the url from where i can download sify client for linux to connect.. Any resource pointers(url) or any kind of help is apprecianble...Thanks in advance..hope this group makes a linux beginner a pro soon :-) Thanks in Advance. regds, Gokul

Oh wow!...I did not know, that such a thing was existing!...Superb!..The only thing I think that it is not as popular as the others because, most people have switched from Windows 98 to 2000/NT/XP... And I have Windows 2003 (180 day trial) so, wont be able to try WinLinux (co-incidently) 2003! Yes, if you wish to and you are determined that you can learn it. You can also install it on your machine on you own. However, there are distros (if you are a bit paranoid) which can be run directly through the CD's. is there any site which would be helpfull? There a lot ....You cannot number them....However, http://www.tldp.org http://www.linuxquestions.org http://fedora.redhat.com and many more.... is it ok to use linux for the internet and everyday use? Yes surely...and u need not install third party utilities as *many* distros (forgot, different distributions of linux are called distros) come with good bunch of applications. No worrying about Viruses worms etc.... and where can i get the Linux OS? many places.... Digit Magazine was one where I obtained Three CD's of Redhat Linux 9.0 However, if you have a good internet connection (>64 Kbps) you can download from http://knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html (Linux disto that can Run from CD) http://fedora.redhat.com (Most widely used in Indian offices (Redhat based linux) , which, u have to install... and there are just many more... However, I wud recommend to start with Knoppix. After you download the ISO of Knoppix, you have to burn the image (I hope you know the options in NERO) and use it. Then u change your first bootable device in BIOS to CD-ROM/Writer and put the CD in the corresponding drive before your OS boots. thank you Always welcome ;) --------------------------------- Yahoo! Authors bounce off topics after just touching the surface. It's just too big and too many distros. But a book will help you get your installation up. Then you need access to internet => google / mailing lists. Hi Amitay, Thankyou for your email. Which other client should i use, i am just aware of pptpconfig, from a windows box it connects well, i have problem configuring it from fedora 3. Rajendra Rait.
