7 star cable ISP

Hi Guys, I am trying to "convert" and persuade a friend of mine to Linux. His ISP is 7 star cable based "broadband". I tried searching on google, and found a forum posting about suggesting the use of linc daemon. However, we couldnt get it working. I suspect it was an authentication issue. His account page on the 7star website recommends use of cyberoamLinux client, and provides a download of it, but doesnt carry any specific guidelines on how to specifically configure it for 7 star settings. Has anyone used this ISP? What client did you use (linc daemon/ cyberoam/anything else)? Any pointers, sample config files that worked for the client, would be most welcome. All we have at hand is the gateway IP, username, password and the DNS servers. Thanks in advance, Vivek

LG LSP350R on FC2

my fc2 finally detected the lg lsp350r on /dev/input/ttyACM0.. my wvdail.conf is as follows [Modem0] Modem= /dev/input/ttyACM0 Init=ATZ Init2=AT+CRM=1;$LGPKT=3 Baud= 115200 SetVolume= 0 DialCommand=ATDT FlowControl= CRTSCTS [Dialer R] Username = my phone number Password = my phone number Phone = #777 Stupid Mode = 1 Inherits = Modem0 when i connect using wvdial it detects the carrier and connects but disconnects immediately saying bad username and password.. i double checked my usermane and password but still cant get it to work.. it returns error code 19... can anyone please help me solve this problem.. however it is currently working with cluster knoppix 3.4 using the same wvdial.conf file except that my modem is set to /dev/ttyACM0... i do not want to change to any other version of linux because i have a lot of other things configured on fc2... please help... thank you... -- javed...

High end animation softwares on linux

Dear Linuxers I work for a small animation/graphics studio.We use MAYA,Houdini and some other applications on windows. Now we are in a process of shifting the whole studio systems to linux.We have used debian as well as suse but we had issues with the installation of some application like XSI. So we are now using RedHat EL AS. Currently all is fine but we would like to use some kind of clustering software to use network rendering. This can speed up the rendering process. Gaim Locales

Hi, I have gaim 1.5.0 on a Mandriva 10.1/kernel 2.6.8/x86 box. I also have IndLinux-Hindi-0.9 (Unnati) installed. Following the instructions in this page: http://freedomink.org/node/55 I now have Gaim in Hindi, but I can't seem to revert back to normal English Gaim. Not that it's bad but some of the hindi translations for the menus use vocabulary for which I have to refer to a dictionary. The only way I was able to get English Gaim was by (re)moving the file /usr/share/locale/hi/LC_MESSAGES/gaim.mo Without this file gaim loads with english menus. Is there a way to switch between hindi and english gaim using command line variables? I have also tried setting the locale environment variables to en_US.UTF-8 but still gaim loads with hindi menus. help needed urgently for problem in linking the shared libraries ( .so )

Hi all, I am Swapnil . I wanted to link the shared libraries . Let me tell you how I tried to link them but I am not too sure whether it is correct or not ,I did it according to tutorial . I wrote some libraries by using X lib for instance some header "test.h" in which I wrote function prototypes , a sample program sample.c and body of functions defined in header is in file def.c . As all files are in same dir then there no problem while compiling and running . Next I created Makefile it consists of following statements all: gcc -lX11 -L/usr/X11R6/lib/ -lncurses -lm sample.c def.c -o try till here everything is OK after this I modified Makefile to create shared libraries like this all: gcc -lX11 -L/usr/X11R6/lib/ -lncurses -lm -shared sample.c def.c -o try.so Shared object created successfully . then I copied header test,h to /usr/include then I copied try.so to /usr/X11R6/lib then I run command #ldconfig to update library database (No errors here) Next If try to compile program , then I get error for functions which I have included , "sample.c:(.text+0x2a3): undefined reference to `function_name' If you know something is wrong here or way is to do it this then please tell me immediately I would have been very thankful to them .
